Employee Listening Sessions Review

Objective

Participants will assess their own organization’s assessments and results of the employee listening sessions to collaboratively identify areas of opportunity and create an action plan for the most immediate items. 

1. Group Discussion

The facilitator will begin the discussion by reiterating why the culture assessment and employee listening session were conducted and how their discussion today is vital to the next steps in implementing their DEI initiatives. List the four terms below on a whiteboard and add participant responses during the discussion.

  1. The facilitator will share several key insights of the listening sessions to lead discussion. Additionally, go around the room and ask participants to share what they learned in their listening sessions. The facilitator will write responses on the board. 
  2. The facilitator will review the remaining results of the culture assessment by sharing the most significant insights and trends. Use the following questions to engage participants in discussion. The facilitator will write responses on the board. 

 

2. Discussion Questions 

Instructions: The facilitator will ask the group questions and write the responses on the whiteboard. These answers should be taken down by either the facilitator or participant willing to take these notes so they can be reviewed later. 

  1. What areas within the organization excel in DEI and why?  
  2. How satisfied are employees with the organization’s current DEI initiatives and policies? 
  3. To what extent does the organization’s workforce represent diverse backgrounds, including race, gender, age, and other dimensions of diversity?  
  4. How inclusive is the organization’s culture, as perceived by employees? 
  5. What types of workplace microaggressions or discrimination have occurred according to employees? 
  6. What specific incidents or behaviors have been identified as problematic? 

 

3. Action Planning

Instructions: The facilitator will ask the group questions and write the responses on the whiteboard. These answers should be taken down by either the facilitator or participant willing to take these notes so they can be reviewed later.

  1. What immediate actions (short-term goals) need to take place? 
  2. What metrics will we use to measure progress? 
  3. How will leadership be responsible for results?  
  4. Who will be responsible for implementing actions, and what are the timelines for each step?
